Range Communications Support The Nottingham Hospice
On Wednesday 10th February Range Communications supported The Nottingham Hospice by attending their dinner with Anton du Beke. The Nottingham Hospice raised in the region on £2000 and a good night was had by all.
The cost of running Nottingham’s only voluntary Hospice is approximately £1.8m per year; of this only 30% of our costs are covered by the NHS Primary Care Trust. The balance, almost £1.2m, we have to raise ourselves from bequests and donations, trusts, our network of charity shops, the weekly Hospice Lottery and events like this Ball.
Their Daycare facility is based on Woodborough road, is free of charge and caters for up to 35 people per weekday, providing the services of our own doctor, physiotherapy, complimentary therapies and group activities and counselling services. We also provide our patients with free transport, catering, day trips and bereavement support. We treat the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients in a comfortable non-hospitalised environment with dignity and respect. We also operate carer days at no cost to them.
Their team of ‘Hospice at Home’ nurses are registered and auxiliary nurses who give practical care and emotional support to 50 people on average per week for varying periods over the 24 hour day, 365 days a year. This service is provided free of charge to people in the latter stages of life who need nursing care and support in their home environment. They also provide periods of respite and support for their carer.
